      CANON IXUS 800is

      Par terry

Résumé : The Canon Ixus 800is is a 6 megapixel camera with a 4x (35-140mm film equivalent) image stabilised zoom lens.

Points forts : The Canon Ixus 800is has a small optical viewfinder. Very small! But at least it is there. And, as we have come to expect from Canon, an excellent set of instruction books. Books ¨C plural!

Points faibles : We miss having a discrete review button. Having to toggle backwards and forwards between review and camera mode via a tiny wheel is a pain.

Conclusion : The Canon Ixus 800is goes to the top of the list of pocketable digicams alongside the Sony DSC-W100. The Sony has more pixels on a bigger sensor. The Canon wins the glamour stakes. Both have optical viewfinders. The Canon has image stabilisation and ...

      Review : Canon Ixus 800IS

      Par paul_smart

Résumé : A popular saying is that great things come in small packages, this certainly seems to be true in the case of this digital camera.

Conclusion : This unit can also capture 640x480 movies at 30 FPS and while it is far short of a camcorder the results are surprisingly good

      Powershot SD700 IS Digital Camera

      Par Alan Stafford

Résumé : Canon's Digital Elph models have always been very nicely made cameras, with finely machined metal bodies and high-quality controls. The latest Elph, the SD700 IS ($500 as of 6/15/06), takes that build quality to a new level. It's attractive without ...

Points forts : Image stabilization seems effective Focuses swiftly

Points faibles : Lacks a quick-review button High price

Conclusion : One annoyance: The camera has no quick-review button, so to review more than one image, you must switch to playback mode using the dial. And as with many Canon models, the battery gauge only tells you when you're about out of juice--that's of little ...
